I bought this part to fix a 2006 Beetle Convertible. The symptoms were the jerking and the inability for the car to shift or getting stuck in 3 or 5 gear; code F189. The letters on the cluster were all lit up [P][N], etc. I was told by a transmission shop that my transmission was bad and that I had to replace the whole thing, $6,000+ to have the car running again! This shifter solved the problem. It is easy to install but you have to have patience and take your time to remove the center console so you don’t break any of the plastic. It’s been 200mi after I installed it and now is running great. VWOnline had the best price, half less than what the dealerships in the Orlando area we’re charging for just the part.
