Too many steps

My problem with this service is that I get an email saying that the card has been delivered to the person's email account, but I never can tell whether the card has been downloaded used. I have sent several cards to the same email address, and the person that I sent the cards to always tells me that she never received the email. I assume I am being lied to, but I don't know how to check if the email was ever read.
