I have been heading up a project for a nonprofit for the past 2 years that involves digitizing and restoring 6000-8000 sermons given from the 1940s to as recent as 2010. While the AI audio restoration with the Repair Assistant on Izotope RX Advanced 11 was excellent, the new version, has just been spectacular. On a muddy message it's often a balance of pulling down the lows and boosting the highs (using the "Tilt" option on the "Tone" dial in the plugin), and only doing just enough noise reduction to not take away any clarity we gained from the EQ-ing. So the message would sound more clear, but at the cost of introducing some hiss from the tone adjustment. In version 12 the AI is far superior at separating the human voice from the noise, so I can reduce the noise and tape hiss much greater than in version 11 without sacrificing the clarity I gained by using the plugin's tone adjustment. I can get even better results when I use the separate plugins one at a time for repair and restoration, but for a job like this where I need to process thousands of messages, the Repair Assistant is excellent. Way better than anything I've ever used in the past 20 years of audio editing. I find the plugin works best when you give it a better starting place, so I will do a batch of 60hz hum reduction and batch EQ the messages with a gentle high-pass filter in my DAW first and THEN use the Repair Assistant. That 60hz hum removal is the only thing I feel the plugin does poorly. The plosive removal and crackle/pop removal when needed has been excellent too.

Without them, my work wouldn't be as good.

love it! Finally, I feel like I’m making real progress with my recordings. Upgrading to Ozone 12 Advanced was absolutely worth it — it has become the number one tool in my home studio. It’s not cheap, but you really get an incredibly powerful all-in-one tool for sound shaping and mastering. A real game changer!

This plugin makes mastering a much much easier process. The work flow keeps things simple and with a variety of starting target points, it sounds fantastic mastering any genre of music.
