Books app has many basic flaws.
Unfortunately, this browser is WAY behind browsers like Kindle. Here are the ways it really, really should be improved:
1. The browser does not rotate when you rotate your device screen! When I read on my iPad, there is no choice but to read in "portrait" mode (screen taller than it is wide). This is much, much less convenient on my iPad (which has a stand) than reading in "landscape" mode (screen wider than it is tall). It is baffling to me that the app lacks this simple, basic feature.
2. There is no search function on the app. If you want to go back and find something you read earlier in the book - good luck! This is made even more difficult by:
3. The app does not "save" your place. When you leave the spot you have read up to, for any reason, you have to manually re-find it - there is no simple way to just go back to the "last page read" or anything like that.
4. The app seems to "lose" all your books if you are off-line for any length of time. This is maddening when you are, for example, in another country without web access. You open the app - and none of your books are there (or, just some outlines with names in them are there). To get them to reappear, you have to go on-line again - which is exactly the opposite of what you want when you are trying to bring a bunch of books to a secluded, out of the way spot. Sometimes, it may just be impossible - in which case, there you are - with no access to any of the reading you hoped to be doing!
In general, this app is actually WORSE than the "mymustread" app the preceded it. I do not understand why the developers couldn't have done better.
