New Country Organics is hands down my all-time favorite company for supporting my backyard flock. I was referred to them by another member of a backyard chicken keeping group and I am so grateful I followed that referral. I initially was referred to them for Hemp bedding. It's far superior to other options, as it doesn't have the harmful dust particles or oils that pine and cedar have. I haven't looked back since. And get this, about a year or so ago, they changed brands on the hemp bedding because the previous mill wasn't meeting the quality standards that NCO has for their products. I remain grateful for their commitment to quality. More reasons NCO is awesome: (1.) You can call them. Yes, call them, and they are so friendly, helpful, and make you feel like you're their #1 priority. They are patient, they can think outside the box and give you excellent recommendations. Whether you have a tiny backyard flock of chooks or a farm full, they treat you so wonderfully. (2.) You get emails about your order status, especially if it's a auto-ship. If there's any delays or concerns, the communication is outstanding. (3.) The quality of the chicken feed. Honestly? I wish local feed stores by me had their products, as well as the hemp bedding. It's organic, it's farmed here in the USA, and it's outstanding. (4.) Variety. If you want layer feed with corn, no problem. Without corn for the warmer/hotter months, no problem. Unmilled (my flock's favourite), even better. PS: NCO, if you're listening, I'd love to see an unmilled with corn in the future... :-) So give them a try. I'm all the way out in Southern California, but shipping (especially auto-ship) makes the distance less for us, and my flock stays healthy thanks to the quality of their products.
