I'm not sure what this is for, but I did just purchase a SB 140 from Competitive Cyclist, and have been riding a SB 135 for a couple of years. I've been riding the SB 140 on the same trails I've been using the SB 135 on and here's this my comparison. I've been mtn biking for over 35 years plus racing in my 40s and 50s: The frames are pretty similar with changes it seems mostly to accommodate different wheel sizes. I'm 5'8", so the 650Bs work well for me, and I've tried other 29ers and they felt "too big". Not the SB 140. It fits well, and although a bit heavier by a couple pounds than the 135, it is much better on the boulder work here in the Middle Rio Grande Valley and Sandia Mountain trails, and the 140 is better (safer) on the decomposed granite sand we have here than the 135. I'm puzzled about the differing wheel sizes on the 140. Smaller width than the 135 and smaller in the rear than front. It seems to work, but what was the engineering decision to do that? However, even with the 2. 4" wide tire on the rear, it seems to bite into the hardpack under the sand. Maybe with the SB 135s lower weight and wider tires they float on the top rather than biting into the sand and hardpack. Just a thought. I'm faster on the 135 than 140, but the 140 seems safer. At age 77 that's a concern. I'll still ride the 135 for fun, but the SB 140 seems more stable even though a bit slower.
