The Chris Christensen Big G slicker brush works amazingly for my Bichon Frise. It is by far the best slicker brush I have ever used. The brush truly makes his hair very fluffy. It's very well designed to be comfortable for the dog as well as the person grooming. I bought the largest brush for the body and the smallest for the face and legs (both are "G" brush). I highly recommend for Bichon Frises with longer cuts.
