No way! I actually won?
I am the winner of the October overland system that Bolton was graciously giving away, so I did not actually order the product. Once I was notified and responded, Beth got the package shipped very promptly. Unfortunately for Bolton, it arrived just before our opening weekend of modern gun deer season, so I have not fully installed the system at this point. I do have it somewhat installed at the moment. Install is very straightforward and can be done by a novice, so no one should be overwhelmed by this project.
Now for the main question everyone wants to know: does it work? Yes, it does. If you understand how signals transmit and boosters work, then you know that you must have signal first BEFORE it can be boosted. At deercamp, I typically have one bar of signal, and can only sometimes make/receive calls or text. With this system, even with not being fully installed correctly, I can make and receive calls and texts easily. Streaming is still unavailable, so I'll have to download some movies and podcasts to listen to around camp in the evening.
I will update this review once I finish installing it correctly, and will include pictures then. As a final thought, I would like to say that having this system gives us a level of added security that we've been looking for. Being retired military and an avid offroader, I spend a lot of my time introducing fellow veterans to offroading and overlanding. While we have not encountered an emergency during these outings, having this system helps to ease some worries should we need to as we venture into some remote areas.
Thank you Bolton Technical!
