Few years ago I bought the Draumr hammock. I already had a inflatable Thermarest pad so I decided to save money and not buy the pad from Amok. I ended up crashing to the ground at 4am sleeping on a seashore because the Thermarest pad just exploded from the inside and the whole structure of the hammock collapsed for that. I managed to get a new Thermarest pad from warranty but after a while it also collapsed. Only after I bought the proper Fjol Ultralight pad from Amok I experienced how the hammock is supposed to hold you, distribute the weight etc. Before it was nearly impossible to sleep on the side and change to the other side - it was a tricky operation to balance the whole thing and you do not have a proper sleep like this. But with this new pad everything is very stable and the pad is properly thick. I have had the best sleeps of this year all in this Amok setup. Much better than any bed can ever be. So maybe if you get another pad exactly with the proper measurements you can substitute the Fjol pad but experimenting was more costly than buying the proper pad in my case.
