I created a three unit pantry/laundry with the wardrobe add on and two shelving units. The instructions suggest having two people for the assembly. The boxes ARE heavy but manageable since my delivery guy (yay) put them just inside my front door and I was able to open and remove the components individually. The first base shelf went together smoothly: I balanced the wooden support on my leg and so on. I stood it up quite easily. The REAL struggle is to get the add ons added on. Having a second pair of hands to hold the pieces in alignment would have made all the difference. Particularly with the hanging rod which has super close tolerances. Bottom line: I did get all the components together and am VERY HAPPY with the results. So glad I went for these as I see them every day. Highly recommended BUT do have a helper if you do the add ons.

First, let me say that the customer care/service team at Floyd is first rate. They helped me through an original messed up order and made sure I finally ordered and receive what I wanted. If you order from Floyd, be advised that the shipping information they will email you is confusing and (in my case) ultimately inaccurate. They advise 6 boxes and I received 8. Oh well. The shelving boxes, when they arrived -- very quickly, by the way -- were a struggle to manhandle without two people. Very cleverly packed, they arrived with minimal damage, just some mild scuffing to the black finish on a couple of the shelves. Clearly, considerable thought went into designing the shipping cartons. The plastic handle in the middle of the heaviest boxes were, however, a cruel joke. They enticed their use, but pull off uselessly into your hand. Thank goodness for the hand holds designed into the ends of each box. Shelf construction was straight forward with a detailed assembly manual and online video help. It's a bit tedious, but the end product is built to take a heavy load of accumulata and do it with style. It's another two person job but we assembled a base unit and three add-ons, including wall anchors, in under three hours. I morning's bit of work. Overall, I am impressed and the shelves are filling quickly.

I purchased this shelving system as an experiment. I wanted to explore a modular shelving system that might serve as an alternative to my Vitsoe obsession. This fit the bill perfectly. Firstly, and honestly the reason I elected to purchase this as opposed to a new Vitsoe system for my new home, is price. This system, for size and quality, is priced very well. A similar Dieter Rams designed system would cost you almost $3,000. Second is aesthetic. It's a sleek and modern, but is classic enough to fit in almost any space. Lastly, but certainly not least, is functionality. This was a gamble, as I was in the first group of purchasers without any real idea as to how modular the system is. I was pleasantly surprised. It is "fully modular", but the degree to which the shelving can be altered does have some limitations as compared to a Vitsoe system -- i.e. the adjustments are just a little less fine on the Floyd system. Overall I'm very pleased with the quality and functionality, especially for the price point. I would recommend giving it a try if you're on the fence. Especially since Floyd's customer service and return policy really is the best.

Our Floyd Shelving System came TWO days after ordering it. It was simple enough for two of us to put together, and looks beautiful. We're already building a plan for adding more shelving to other rooms. The Short with Short Add-on system is so beautiful, and holds so many more items than I even expected it to -- absolutely transformed the space. Will literally keep this for the rest of my life.

I'm defiantly someone that values quality over quantity. The Floyd Shelving System + Add-ons are so easy to put together, beautiful, and sturdy. I'm stoked and plan to have the system til the end of time. Cannot wait to add-on a short shelf or two as well. As an interior designer, I highly recommend!
