My god, this paper is gorgeous! Not for beginners, though.
I chose this paper for the top section of my renovated bathroom. Before I started work this bathroom looked like it belonged in a gas station. Now I love it and am very happy with my choice of paper. Here is what you need to know if you go with this paper:
1) You CAN put it on orange-peel texture walls (you get a beaten-gold effect). However, this paper is thin, so don't put it over a lousy spackling job or major marks on walls.
2) If you have slats covering drywall seams (like me) it may be best to leave them in place. I covered mine with gold Oracal craft vinyl from Michael's before putting up the bird paper. I also used the gold vinyl for the corners, which made my life much easier because I did not need to achieve perfect alignment with the corners. The Oracal gold is not 100% the same as the birds, but close enough for this.
3) You MUST plan where the birds will go ahead of time. The paper has a repeat of 27", but the pattern itself is staggered by 13. 5". There are 12 birds per roll.
4) A good thing about this paper being thin is that straight seams do not show much, so you can alter the pattern alignment. Like, around my showerhead is 3 different strips of paper. I did that to avoid beheading any birds.
5) Put anti mold stuff on your walls first if using in a bathroom.
6) Get that felt covered wallpaper smoother tempaper offers, to avoid damaging the gold.
I've had the paper up for a few months now, no problems! Love it!
