Easy to set up. Great quality. Make sure you have good WiFi signal. I’ve brought more devices.

The solar panel is not good enough for colder climates for east facing installation

East Facing --> colder climates in the US --> usually not a good recipe for charging batteries with solar panels in winter. However I have had better luck with Ring solar panels than the one included with the S340 (same angle, same amount of sunshine, same time of the year).Otherwise, the camera is great, tilt and zoom works well, AI detection works well.

my first time buy a

my first time buy a security camera and I was quite impress with the ease of installing and setting it up. The clear video from distance is impressive as with the A.I. technology built in to this camera. I recommend for any first timer.

Great picture day and night. No subscription. On-device AI needs improvement

I’ve been using this camera for a couple months now. Overall I’m satisfied and would buy again, but definitely room for improvement.Good: great picture quality day and night. Easy installation and setup. No ongoing monthly subscription cost. Video stored locally, not sent to the cloud. Grade A on those things.Could be better: the on-device AI that is supposed to detect humans, pets, and vehicles falls pretty short. Way too many false positives thinking a chair is a pet or a table is a person, and occasionally missing when there really is a pet or person. Grade D on the AI.This camera can work with a homebase 3 for better AI and off-device storage of video. BUT due to a poor design decision the homebase3 must be able to connect directly to the camera. If, like me, the camera has very strong wifi but much too far from the homebase3, you’re limited to on-device storage and AI. Grade D on the homebase3 integration. All these shortcomings are correctable by improving the software, so hopefully Eufy will make an effort to improve.

Almost perfect

It's billed as "360° Guardian, No Blind Spots"This camera would be perfect if......1) it could detect motion outside of its limited main view. A different Eufy camera, the Eufy S330 floodlight cam has 3 motion detectors: one foward, and one on each side to detect motion almost everywhere. However, this S340 has a single motion detector that simply points foward. Though it surely can "view" a full 360 degrees, I can literally walk up right next to it from the side, and it does not even know that I am standing there! Once I walk into its limited view, and it locks on, it will then follow me anywhere.2) Another downside is the lack of a standard mount that works with all the third party mounting options (i.e. gutter mount, etc.). I did not want drill into my brick for this camera so I eventually made it work with a gutter mount (but it was not easy). The solar panel works flawlessly. Even in winter, my battery power level never dips below 90% before it charges back to 100%.I wish the lense was covered in a darkened dome (like the S330) so people do not realize that the camera is not detecting them at times.I use it with Hombase3 (which provides its own huge wireless signal) which has AI to recognize family members vs. strangers. Eufy even recently added cross camera tracking which will stitch this recording with my Eufy dual doorbell recording as someone walks past both cameras. And all with no monthly fee? Nice.I have it mounted on a corner of my home but it does not detect any motion on one side of the house. Again.....so close to being a perfect camera.Yes, Eufy (a Chinese company) apparently did not encrypt footage if viewed on their website (they claimed a website login ID and password were protection enough) but I exclusely use the Eufy app anyway so the point is moot for me. And maybe Eufy even "covered up" a bit when pressed for the truth, but I think they are now using "independent" auditor-types to monitor things like this going forward. Overall, I'm relatively happy with the camera. But, again it's just so close to being perfect that its annoying. (They had it listed for $125.00 after Black Friday and it was a steal for a month but it's back to $199.00 now).
