RF 24-105 f/4 as travel lens
I have rented it before together with a canon RF 24-240 to decide which I wanted as a travel lens for a Gulf of Mexico Cruise. Image quality wise they seem comparable but I like the f/4 aperture, better autofocus and the weather sealing more, especially considering we were going to humid places.
The version I rented last time was solid, but the one I received this time had a bit of a wobble (free play) in the barrel end. It appears to be a common complaint for this lens and it didn’t appear to affect the quality of the images, but it made it feel like the lens was in poorer condition, even though exterior was clean with no damage and clean glass. I combined it with a polarizer filter and was really happy with the result on my R100. I might buy a new one but need to upgrade the camera first.
