Great Kennel - would buy again, in fact we did.
A big part of choosing this kennel was the 5-star crash test rating, and that it is on the Canine for Pet Safety (CPS) lists - very few kennels make this list and stay on it.
Gunner has exceptional customer service, too. From answering questions, to helping change color of the kennel being shipped when many other companies would have said sorry, it’s too late - Gunner staff made sure the color I changed my mind to is the color we got.
Shipping was fast, too. We received our orders in 6 days from the date of order - we’re in CA, so the kennels had a ways to travel.
Very impressed by this kennel. Definite quality all-around. Love how smooth and easy the doors are to open and latch closed. It was easy to switch which way the doors swing open, too. We wanted our situation to be so that they are like Dutch doors, both opening at the middle of the car and swinging out.
The optional crate pads are worth buying, as well, as are the high quality straps. We purchased our first kennel as a bundle, so got the cute personalized name plate as well (bundles end up being the best price if you are buying straps and bed).
My husband says while the straps might seem pricey, they are excellent quality, and the kennels are crash tested using these straps. Worth getting the Gunner straps.
Our dogs are a toy breed and the Gunner on-line sizing guide put one of our dogs between a size small and intermediate. So, we started out with a small which we knew was the right size for one of our dogs who is about 14lbs and 11 1/2” at the withers. The other dog who is 16lbs and 12 1/2 at the withers fits well in the small, too.
What helped us finally make the decision to purchase Gunner kennels was that the dog in this picture was diagnosed with lymphoma recently. He’s having to travel 4 hours round trip for bi-weekly chemo treatments. We wanted to make sure he was a safe and comfortable as possible during these drives, as well as from here on out to other dog events we got to. Our dogs compete in agility.
We drive a 2022 Honda Pilot, 2 small kennels fit well annd leave space on each side to slide other items. We measured to know 1 small and 1 intermediate also would have fit.
We currently have 3 dogs, but can’t fit 3 Gunner kennels in the back. One of my questions to Gunner was about the safety of 2 dogs in one crate (which 2 of our dogs do fit in a small), but Gunner staff was honest in their response that they know people do it, but the kennels are not crash tested for use with 2 dogs per kennel.
We do not need locks on our kennels, and it was easy to remove the locking mechanism.
Wish we’d made the decision to purchase Gunner sooner.
