Good alternative to commercial kibble
I feed organic homemade to my dogs, but I use this food when traveling or in other circumstances where I can’t feed homemade.
I stopped using commercial kibble years ago, after the melamine scandal. An additional study since then showed that ingredients listed in various pet foods were not actually present, while in others, unlisted ingredients were present. Or there may be too much of a nutrient, causing toxicity (recent vitamin D issue with Hills).
While a recall is always a possibility with any food product, The Honest Kitchen has a better track record than most pet food manufacturers, and their use of human grade ingredients is a huge plus. They also have transparency about the sourcing of their ingredients on their web site. Quality ingredients, I like that there is coconut oil included. One reputable source of their poultry.
These whole food clusters also don’t have the disgusting smell and oiliness that some kibbles have. The whole food clusters are thus appealing to both the dog eating it, and the human who has to dish it up.
